At the Princess Máxima Center we work every day toward 100% cure of children with cancer. We cannot do this alone. With your support, better treatmentsand improved quality of life come closer. Together we make a difference for these children.
Since the opening of the Princess Máxima Center in 2018, the Foundation has contributed to more than 300 projects at the Máxima. These are highlights made possible thanks to the support of donors.
Neuro-oncology
An intraoperative MRI operating room that allows a live MRI scan to be performed during surgery, enabling children with brain tumors to be operated on with less damage to the brain.
Quality of Life
87 parent-child rooms, where parents can stay with their child 24/7.
The Maximaal Bewegen program, in which 2,000 children and siblings participate each year.
International
Support for the Máxima’s international collaborations with more than 25 pediatric oncology centers in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. The Foundation also supports these partners in establishing local fundraising initiatives.
Immunotherapy
Five clean rooms in the Cell and Gene Unit (CGU) for the in-house development of, and further research into, immunotherapy.

- Why is my support needed?In the Netherlands, about 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year. Most children are cured, but still 2 to 3 children die each week. That is unacceptable and must change.
- How we use your donationCuring as many children as possible, with as few side effects as possible. That is what you contribute to with your gift so that our children can dream of a future.
- About the FoundationThe Princess Máxima Center relies on funding to continue improving treatments for children with cancer. As you might know, standard medical treatment in the Netherlands is covered by health insurance. However, much more is needed.This includes programs for children and families, sports and physical activity, mental support, distraction and well-being initiatives, and the ongoing search for even better treatments. These essential elements are not automatically funded.Significant financial support is required to make this possible. That is where the Foundation plays a crucial role.
