Winged Friends of the Princess Máxima Center

For several years in a row, the pigeon racing community has taken action in support of the Princess Máxima Center. A special highlight is the annual Habru Pigeon Day, where dedicated enthusiasts and partners come together to raise funds for cancer research.

During this event, partners of Pigeon Day donate a pigeon that is auctioned. The proceeds from this auction, as well as from other initiatives within the pigeon racing community throughout the year, go entirely toward cancer research. What makes this initiative especially meaningful is the loyal commitment of the donors.

‘It has truly become an annual tradition. The pigeon donors are approached from all sides, yet every year they reserve a pigeon for our fundraiser. That is very special,’ says Hans Bruns, one of the organizers of Habru Pigeon Day.

The proceeds from the various initiatives are channeled through Stichting Bergh in het Zadel, which makes a donation to the Máxima. We are proud of this warm and lasting partnership. In this way, the initiatives within the pigeon racing community directly support the mission of the Máxima. Together, we make a difference for children with cancer and their families.
