Impressive Charity Gala Dinner at the Royal Concertgebouw

26 september 2025

Last night, the fifth Charity Gala Dinner of the Princess Máxima Center took place at the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, organized by the Foundation. The gala raised an impressive €5,112,815 for research in neuro-oncology and talent development.

The evening was hosted by Nicolette van Dam and Beau van Erven Dorens, and the auction was led by auctioneer Jop Ubbens. Prof. Edward Nieuwenhuis, Chief Medical Officer, opened the gala with an inspiring speech about the mission of the Máxima. He was followed by Prof. Rob Pieters, Chief International Officer, who shared how the proceeds from the previous gala were used and briefly explained why neuro-oncology was the focus of this year’s event.

Throughout the dinner, guests enjoyed a diverse program, including performances by our ambassadors Maan and DJs Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the National Ballet Academy, Yves Berendse, Peter Paul Muller, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Fleur Raateland, and Kris Kross Amsterdam also performed, generously donating their time and talent. Once again, around 50 staff members volunteered on their evening off to assist with catering, which was greatly appreciated by the guests. In addition, eight colleagues offered the audience a special glimpse into life at the Máxima by performing scenes from the theater production High Flyers. Their contribution deeply moved the audience and showed what it means to work at the Máxima with heart and dedication.

Midway through the evening, there was a moving moment when Jade Kops shared her personal story. On stage, alongside Nicolette van Dam, she read a letter she had written herself. In it, she courageously described what she has been through and her wish to spare other children from going through the same experience in the future. She made a heartfelt appeal to support the Máxima. Her strength and positive spirit left a lasting impression on everyone present.

It was an unforgettable evening, and we are incredibly grateful and proud that, thanks to the commitment of everyone involved, such a remarkable amount was raised to support projects in neuro-oncology and talent development at the Princess Máxima Center.

Together, we make a difference in the lives of children with cancer.
